Quick germinating, cool season annual that serves as an excellent biomass accumulator and nurse crop for companion legume cover crops.
Can be used as forage for livestock, to produce straw mulch in fall, for weed suppression, erosion control and soil softening. Grows quickly, smothering weeds and serves as a nurse crop for legume partners. When used in spring, care should be taken to fully incorporate. Will winter kill at around 15 degrees F. Seeding rate: 90 lbs/acre, 3-4 lbs/1000 sq ft, 1 lb/250-300 sq ft.
